Consultation
Consultation with Camden Oral Surgery
As a patient of Camden Oral Surgery, your initial appointment will be a consultation with Dr. Pennington, where you will learn your diagnosis and discuss your treatment options. At the consultation appointment, we will work with you to select a convenient date and time for surgery. Occasionally, surgery can be performed the same day as the consultation.
A preoperative consultation and physical examination are mandatory for patients planning to have IV anesthesia for surgery. On the day of surgery, please have nothing to eat or drink for six hours prior to your arrival. You will also need an adult to accompany you to and remain at the office, and drive you home after surgery.
Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are currently taking any medication (heart medications, blood thinners, etc.).
What to Bring With You
In order to make your visit to our office as smooth as possible, please bring the following information to your appointment:
- Your surgical referral slip and any x-rays.
- A list of medications you are presently taking.
- Any medical or dental insurance insurance information, including your insurance card, if applicable. This will allow us to process any insurance claims.
Important: All patients under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation visit.
X-Rays
If your dentist or physician has taken x-rays, you may request that they forward them to our office or you may bring them yourself. We are proud to feature a state-of-the-art digital system, and will often take a panoramic x-ray or a CT scan for our system.
